SUMMARY

Don't underestimate the importance of keeping your site secure at ALL times. WordPress by itself is an unlocked door.

The more popular items (i.e. plugins) you store in your "web house" (i.e. your website) the more it becomes a hackers hornets nest.

That's why at wptechcare, we take your web security very seriously and got you covered at all angles.

Security Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

Malware Scan

We thoroughly scan your entire website automatically every day for dangerous code. Any damaged files as a result of malware is investigated and cleaned up by our team bringing back your site up as fresh as new (removal of malware is only available on the Optimize Plan).

Strong Passwords Audit

All passwords and usernames are checked for strength. We'll require the site owner to change any weak passwords because doing so will make it harder for a bot to gain access.

Two-Factor Authentication

This sends a code to your phone for an extra layer of password security. With this enabled, you'll need to enter a code sent to your phone in order to sign in. Even if a hacker steals your credentials, with this feature enabled, it's nearly impossible to sign in because they don't have your phone.

WordPress Security Keys And Salts

This adds a third layer of protection making WordPress more secure by hashing or encrypting your authentication details in the users' cookies. The wp-config.php file contains four authentication keys and four hashing salts in order to protect agains password cookie theft.

Obfuscate Default WordPress Login URL

Any hacker knows the default WordPress login URL ends in /wp-login.php after your domain name. To limit brute-force attacks, which is where a bot continuously bombards your server with different login combinations, we can change the default URL.

Upon your approval, we can create a custom login URL (e.g. my-url) to make it harder for hackers to find your sign in page.

Installation of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificate

An SSL certificate encrypts your connection between the web server and browser to authenticate the server's identity. This makes your site more secure with the "https" identifier rather than http.

Search engines especially Google will not rank your site unless if you have met this requirement. Good practice to deter phishing (theft of personal information from phony websites).

We'll help you install an SSL certificate so your website always remains secure with https not http.

Firewall Shield

Every website should have firewall protection. Without it is like having your front door unlocked without a barrier of entry. A firewall acts as your fortification unit to ward off hackers, spammers, and malicious bots from breaching into your site. With our firewall shield you can choose which type of traffic to block.

Plugins And Themes Authenticity Check

Worried that your plugin or theme isn't legit or not from a verified trusted source? Rather than you performing an eyeball sanity check, we'll make sure your plugins and themes are phony-proof. That is, coming from reputable, credible, and legitimate sources such as wordpress.org.

Neglected Or Phantom Plugins And Themes

Any inactive plugin or theme not in use will be assessed and possibly removed depending on the users' rationale. Ideally, it's never best to keep these items disabled for a long time. They pose threats and more vulnerabilities to your site given they remain out-of-date under disabled mode. They also consume database space or bloat adversely impacting performance.

Weekly Plugins And Theme Check

To check if any changes have been made to the original files in the WordPress repository, we scan core, plugins, and themes weekly. Doing so, provides ample time to rectify any corrupted files as a result from malware before things get out of hand.

Bullet-Proof Defenses Against Brute-Force Attacks

We have an arsenal of bullet-proof defenses to stop and deter brute-force attacks ranging from automated IP blocking, to a robust firewall, to instituting strong passwords, to two-factor authentication, to limiting login attempts, to changing the default login URL to a unique one.

A brute-force attack is someone or an automated bot trying repeatedly to gain unauthorized access to your site by guessing different credential combinations.

Daily Automated Cloud Backups

In the event there's a breach, data loss, corruption, malware, or other security compromise, we can restore a previous clean backup to see what went wrong. Under this plan, we take two backups per day as a double precaution to plan for the unexpected.

All backups are stored on Amazon's S3 secure servers, one of the most reliable and fool-proof platforms out there.

MySQL Database Injection Protection

MySQL is one of the most popular WordPress databases. Each WordPress install requires a preexisting database. A MySQL injection is when a cybercriminal injects malicious code into the database via on opt-in, contact, or any other website form.

This kind of injection takes two forms: retrieving sensitive information form the database (i.e. data theft) or installing harmful code into the database causing a pandemonium.

Using our security standards and protocol, we diffuse this kind of database threat and theft.

Block Fake Googlebot Spiders

Just because you may see in your dashboard an IP address with the Google name doesn't mean it's verified. There may be at times a lot of fake Googlebots crawling on your website to find vulnerabilities, entry points, or other security frailties.

These crawlers are actually cyberterrorists and cannot be trusted. The beauty though is our team can decipher between non-verified and verified Googlebots.

We'll block problematic bots without affecting the good ones so they can properly index your site for SEO purposes.

Live Site Monitoring

We constantly have our eyes locked on your website to keep track of the ins and outs. Anything that looks suspicious or malicious will be further reviewed and remediated if needed by our team.

This strategy is a perfect preventative security measure for us to resolve any security problems as quickly as possible. Leaving any security hole unpatched, especially for even a small period of time is a recipe for disaster.

You can sleep with peace and comfort knowing we're bodyguarding your site and will make proper adjustments if deemed necessary to tighten security.

Setting The Right File Permissions

In order to prevent the unintended use and modifications of files by a user with insufficient privileges, we recommend setting up proper file permissions. We can do this for you by designating full or partial permissions to add, modify, or delete files to only trustworthy people you know.

This is another way to disallow attempts made from unauthorized individuals to install corrosive code or unfavorably alter your content without your knowledge.

Block "Red Flag" Traffic

If traffic from an IP address or several addresses is trying to persistently gain unauthorized access to your site, database, or files, we'll simply block them from your zone. Our intelligent network blocking system can lock certain pestering countries even before they reach your login or any other page on your site.

Less unwelcomed traffic means less hacking and more security with faster speed times.

Expunging Spam Comments

Let's be honest, no one likes spam. It's a big nuisance that shouldn't even exist. Yet it's pervasive, time consuming to remove, wasteful on resources, and bad on your reputation. Luckily, you don't have to sit behind a desk or hire a virtual assistant to comb through your lengthy web comments.

We help filter out spammy comments to keep the database light and optimal. Your visitors and search engines will thank you for this!

Link Hygiene Scan

Every day, we'll scan your entire website for broken links or ones that lead to sketchy or unsafe websites. You'll be notified of our findings where you can tell us which links you want to correct and update.

Domain Name Server (DNS) Alerts

In order to have a live viewable website, it needs to have certain records in a DNS. Your DNS is like your address book. Without, you don't know how to arrive at your destination which in this case is your website.

Whenever there's a DNS change (maybe you added, updated, or removed a record), it can sometimes take up to 48 hours for that change to be published. This may mean your website is inaccessible to the public until this change propagates.

With our DNS scanning service, we notify you of any DNS changes that happened, especially if your website goes down as a result.

Daily Database Cleanup

Just like having a clean and tidy home provides a wonderful experience for your guests, database optimization is equally as important for your web visitors. Every time you update, publish, and even delete a page/post, your database can get clogged up overtime.

By default, WordPress doesn't completely remove a page or post when you delete it. It stores the files in a trash bin with restore points.

And the more revisions you make, the more restore points you'll have. The more restore points you have, the more space it consumes in your database.

If your database is too inflated, your website speeds will drop significantly. That's why a set routine cleanup schedule is important to keep the database light and junk free.

With our daily cleanup service, you never need to constantly monitor your database usage. We'll keep the database lightweight so your site runs in tip top speeds!

FAQS
FAQs Security Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does this plan remove malware?

The Secure Plan only automatically scans your website daily. If it detects malware, you would need to upgrade to the Optimize Plan for us to remove it. However, once we remove the malware, you can downgrade to your current plan, thus only paying once for this premium service.

We'll also check any vulnerabilities that exist within outdated plugins and themes to tightly tie up all loose screws. Additionally, we'll add more layers of protection to reduce future recurrences of malware.

Do I need to configure and manage iThemes Security Pro Plugin?

No.

We do all the heavy lifting for you. All we need is access to your dashboard and we'll take care of the rest. Since you own this plugin 100 percent, if at any point, you want full or partial control, you don't need our permission.

Simply edit or reconfigure any changes you like directly into the plugin settings via the WordPress dashboard.

As discussed in the Services tab, we also implement other security mechanisms separate from iThemes Security Pro. These are unique and personalized for each new customer, since each use case is different.

What happens if I cancel my monthly plan? Will I lose access to iThemes Security Pro?

Canceling your subscription to wptechcare means we can no longer render you this must needed web management service. Since we're partners with iThemes Security Pro offering a free license to every paying customer, canceling our services would deactivate access to all Pro features of this plugin.

You can still continue to use the plugin since they have a free version but you won't be able to fully protect your site without a Pro license.

You're free to purchase the Pro version from their website. It will cost you at least $80 a year if you don't want to lose access to support and updates.

How do you constantly monitor my site from a security point of view?

We have various automated cron jobs that ping your website every minute per day to check the status health. It's a simple "knock on the door" approach to make sure there aren't any downtime issues. If the website is down or produces a 400 error, we'll step in to remedy the problem immediately!

We also run daily malware scans to monitor any unnatural activity.

Is it too late to fix my website if it gets hacked?

For this plan, we take two backups per day, and all backups are archived for 90 days. We double plan for the unexpected because we understand disturbances may arise given how the Internet will never be 100 percent safe.

Typically, the longer a hacker has access to your site the more damage can be done. This is one of the main reasons why our backup retention period is longer than most companies.

The good news is coupled with our extensive sanitization procedures, we can restore your website within 24 hours as if the hack never took place. This type of service just like malware removal is only offered on the Optimize plan.

SUMMARY

Fast loading times are just as equally important as hardening your web security. If your website is sluggish, you will lose visitors, sales, and ranking visibility on search engines.

Not only that, if your pages aren't mobile friendly and optimized, with a 53 percent market share, more than half of your traffic will diminish.

We strive hard, really hard, to methodically execute performance-enhanced tricks and hacks so your site loads in less than two seconds.

Performance Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

Malware Removal

Malware is flat out poison for your business. It causes irregularities, disruption, loss of data, speed hiccups, and cost thousands of dollars to fix depending on severity. If your site is loading too slow one possible explanation is it might be infected with malware.

Our team is highly trained to clean out your infected website so that everything operates smoothly and quickly!

Cache Browser Resources

WordPress, especially Woocommerce, uses a database to retrieve your website files and configurations. This is how your web page is displayed to the public when someone visits your URL. Calling the database does cause some delay, especially if you have a boat load of plugins.

One of the best ways to enhance loading times is leveraging browser caching. When this option is turned on, it saves a copy of your entire website in the user's browser. This includes all the html, css, javascript, and media files.

When a second visit is made, these cached files are loaded from the user's browser, thus substantially increasing the page load speed. These resources wouldn't need to be reloaded all over again as the user already has a saved copy of the site in his/her browser.

If you had to change one element to enhance web speed it must be enabling cache. According to a recent study done by YUI, cache alone can increase speeds by at least 300 percent!

Image And Video Compression

Probably the second most important quality when it boils down to performance is image and video compression. These two are the biggest offenders of slow performance. They consume more space than text.

It's never advisable to upload an image that's larger than the page's dimensions. If you're uploading a 3840 x 2160 image in a small section on your blog that only requires a size of 1200 x 628, performance will take a huge hit. You'll also be wasting disk space on your server since larger sized images take more space than smaller ones.

Even if after reading this you think it's too late for us to help, think again! Not only can we resize your current uploaded images without having to start all over again, but we also compress them without losing out on quality.

We use lossless compression because it's a happy medium - you get smaller image file sizes to improve performance while retaining image clarity and sharpness.

To save you more time and worry down the road, we can also set up automatic compression. Any images you upload in the future will automatically be compressed.

For videos, if you prefer to save them in your WordPress database by uploading them into your media library, we recommend to first compress them prior to upload. We personally like handbrake because it's free and effective.

If you use YouTube, Vimeo, or some other platform to host your videos and want to embed their code on your website, you must be aware this option will slow down load times.

However, we know a nice tweak to optimize this setup for current and future embeddable videos.

Lazy Image And Video Loading

Just like compression, lazy loading is another useful trick to speed up the web page. If you have a bunch of images and videos, what lazy loading will do is slightly delay the loading of these assets until they are called upon by the visitor.

A perfect example is when a visitor scrolls down on your page and lands on an image. They will see the image appear with a slight negligible delay. If the visitor stops in this section and leaves the website before scrolling all the way down, all images on the bottom of the page will not load.

On the other hand, video lazy loading entails the video not loading or autoplaying until the user presses the play button.

Lazy loading will definitely save a lot of bandwidth and boost your speeds exponentially across your entire site because bandwidth is only triggered upon an action (e.g. playing a video, landing on an image).

Connect To A Content Delivery Network (CDN)

An CDN allows your website to be served across multiple geographical connection points. Think of an CDN as a facilitator. Whereas your hosting provider may have several servers across the country, an CDN adds more coverage.

The basic premise of an CDN is obtain a copy of your website and store them on servers across the world. When someone lands on your site, the CDN delivers the content from the server within the closest proximity to this person.

Cloudflare is one of the best free CDNs to utilize. Want the extra oomf but lost on where to start? No problem. We can set up your CDN with much comfort and ease!

Mobile-Friendly Optimization

About 53 percent of web traffic comes from mobile devices. Web mobile speed is one of the most vital indicators Google and other search engines uses for page rank. If your site isn't mobile friendly and fast, Google will not rank you well.

If you don't have the right tools, this can entail a major site renovation to make all pages responsive across ALL devices.

Luckily, with our expertise, we can get rid of this dilemma once and for all. We'll dig into the nitty and gritty and make all your pages mobile-friendly across all devices (tablet, mobile, and laptop) and all browsers.

Minify Javascript And CSS

Minify basically cuts out extra characters in the css or javascript source code. For example, when developers write code for your plugins and themes, they write it in a way that's readable. They will include comments, extra spaces, and line breaks for ease of readability.

When we minify the code, the architecture becomes more condensed with no extra spaces or line breaks. Thus, your browser is able to read the website quicker resulting into better speeds.

Add Expires Header And Footer Scripts

Expires headers tells the browser whether it should fetch the resource (e.g. image) from the server or the browser's cache. Setting an expire header like "access for 1 year", for let's say an image, tells the browser to cache that resource for 1 year.

By adding these expires, resource load quicker via the browser as opposed to fetching them from the server. This in turn, significantly enhances site performance.

Additionally, with any Javascript code, we move these types of script to the footer because they typically take much longer to load. That way, heavy tasks are deferred at the end rather than clogging the load time from the get-go.

The idea is even though all resources haven't fully loaded, when the visitor sees that most of the site is visible (with the exception of the scripts), they won't leave the site immediately.

Combine CSS And Javascript

Combining CSS and Javascript is the simple act of reducing the number of individual files that run on the website. You may have multiple CSS and Javascript entries on a page.

Combining them into a single file calls for fewer requests. Less requests equals less resources to load which equals faster time to deliver content to the end user.

Inline CSS In Header

Our team inlines any important CSS in the head tag of the site's HTML. We won't inline all CSS because that would slow down speed. Any non-critical CSS is not inlined so it can be loaded last after the page is generated.

By prioritizing between critical vs non-critical CSS via inlining, the most important CSS is displayed within the HTML page. The visitor doesn't need to wait for it to be downloaded from the server.

Reorganize Render-Blocking Resources

When someone visits your website, the browser downloads everything from top to bottom. If, along the way, the browser stumbles upon CSS or Javascript code, it queues the download of the entire page until it finishes processing these resources.

Why is this a big downside?

Because users would have to wait until CSS and Javascript is fully download (which takes more time than HTML) before any content becomes visible. If this happens, since visitors cannot see any content on your website until these resources are finalized, they'll wind up leaving your site.

So, when we minimize render-blocking resources, we're essentially prioritizing them to only keep the crucial ones sitting at the top.

The remaining unnecessary portions are strategically placed usually on the bottom of the page. This makes the most important aspects of the site, which is content, load faster.

Enable Gzip Compression

Gzip compression compresses your the entire code of your website (HTML, CSS, and Javascript) to make the page smaller. It's similar to the concept of zipping multiple files in a folder to reduce the file size on your hard drive.

Because the web page file size is smaller with Gzip compression, content will be downloaded faster thus improving page speed.

Fast Managed Hosting Response Time

Sometimes the company hosting your website has constrained resources, poor server setup, or too many people on one server sharing each other's resources. Such a scenario can impose ramifications on your overall site speed. The majority of an optimal website lies on your host.

You can make all the modifications you want at the front end, but if your back end server host is impaired, your site will always load slow.

If you happen to be on a "crippled" host, we can help you with the migration to a better, faster, and efficient managed hosting solution for free.

Remove Query Strings From CSS And Javascript

CSS and Javascript leave a cosmetic "filler" at the end of the URL which starts with a ? as in: example.com/style.css?ver=4.7. This just states the version of the file, but some proxy caching servers or CDN don't cache query strings.

So in order to improve our caching, we actually remove them. Improved caching translates to increase speeds.

FAQs Performance Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does this plan remove malware?

Yes it does! This plan and upwards will remove malware leaving your site clean as new. However, once we remove the malware, you can downgrade to your current plan, thus only paying once for this premium service.

What is priority support?

We'll put you on the top of the queue list as you come first. The turnaround time is faster as your requests will be met within 24 hours or less.

The turnaround time for basic support is 24-48 hours.

Do I need to configure and manage WP Rocket and WP Smush Pro?

No.

We do all the heavy lifting for you. All we need is access to your dashboard and we'll take care of the rest. Since you own these plugins 100 percent, if at any point, you want full or partial control, you don't need our permission.

Simply edit or reconfigure any changes you like directly into the plugins' settings via the WordPress dashboard.

Do I lose WP Rocket and WP Smush Pro access if I cancel my plan?

Canceling your subscription to wptechcare means we can no longer render you this must needed web management service. Since we're partners with both these premium plugins offering a free license for every paying customer, canceling our services would deactivate access to all Pro features of this plugin.

You can still continue to use WP Smush, since they have a free version. You won't, however, be able to use WP Rocket because they only have a paid version. On top of that, you won't be able to fully take advantage of both plugins optimization features to boost your site speed.

You're free to purchase the Pro version from their website. WP Rocket starts at $49 per year and WP Smush Pro starts at $72 per year with one year of support and updates.

Can my website load in less than two seconds as you claim?

Our ideal goal is to get your site loading as fast as possible. Of course, everyone wants loading speeds to be under one second. But we don't like to make this kind of bold statement or overpromise and under delivery. That's not our mantra! The reality is that every website and setup is different.

For example, the more plugins you have the more it will impact loading time. Likewise, if you're on a crappy shared hosting environment, your web servers will not have the horsepower to load pages quickly.

The fact of the matter is most of the sites we manage typically fall under two seconds. But this might not necessarily be the case for you as mentioned before depending on the complexity of your setup.

If you keep a good balance between plugin overloads and underloads, utilize all our services contained in this plan, and have reliable hosting (e.g. Siteground, Kinsta, etc.) hitting that under two seconds milestone should be achievable!

How do your services work and how do you manage everything?

Most of our services to make your website fast falls under two main plugins: WP Rocket and WP Smush Pro. These two tools are powerful enough to enhance your web performance.

We have years of trial and error experience and we wouldn't be using these plugins if they failed to produce positive results.

Once we fully configure these plugins optimally, the other half or so of our services entail doing a full manual audit of your site. This allows us to create a roadmap on how to fully get us to that under two seconds loading time goal!

Lastly, since customer satisfaction is our number one priority, we ensure your site stays fast forever not just during the initial optimization phase.

Can I just use your services once or is it needed for the long term?

Technically, you can, but why would you do that?

Your site will always change, especially when you grow. Newer content. Newer plugins. More updates. Technology is so dynamic that it's changing by the month. Things become obsolete very quickly and as your business grows so will your team.

Plus, if you want to go that route, you'll have to constantly stay up-to-date with new changes. If there is a new feature that gets launched, maybe a new setting within your CDN or caching tool, you'll have to learn and understand how it makes your site better without breaking your existing setup.

That's why purchasing a one time service and calling it a day will not be advantageous and sustainable for your business in the long term.

And as your site grows, it will continue to slow down, unless if someone like wptechcare constantly manages it. We not only perform management services, but adjust speed settings for new changes alongside testing and implementing new features.

If I need to migrate to a faster host, can you help with that?

Of course we can!

Although, we don't offer managed hosting, we can still help with the transition by introducing you to our recommended vendors. These host providers have a long track record of offering 24/7 support, fast speeds, and stability at reasonable prices.

All our recommended hosts provide free migrations. Just tell us exactly what you are looking for (small budget, fast speed, etc.) and we'll pass you on to the best provider that satisfies your needs.

Once you sign up with the new host, they will take full control over the migration process. However, we do step in as the middle man to ensure a smooth transition without any interruptions.

As soon as you are ready to rock and roll on the new host and sign up to our Optimize Plan, we'll take charge from here on out to optimize the entire hosting environment.

What does Woocommerce support entail

We actually set up the "skeleton" of Woocommerce. That means initial configuration as well as any other additional plugins to extend its functionality. For example, depending on where you're located, you may need a plugin like Jetpack to calculate sales tax. We can help set up that plugin for you.

Once all your desired Woocommerce settings are configured to your liking, we then manage it on a constant basis.

Since we aren't a design web agency, we don't offer copywriting services nor can we physically design your web or store layout. All images, text, videos, pages, and posts must be designed and created by either you or your developer.

All we do is help manage these media assets for you so if you need a picture to be replaced, we can make this happen. We can also update your logos, banners, text, video, header, and footer elements as well as fix any typos.

SUMMARY

Updates are one of the most important requirements that most WordPress users neglect and forget.

It's no wonder 61 percent of WordPress sites are infected with malware due to outdated themes, core, and plugins. It's true that at times updates can disrupt the overall behavior of the site.

When you partner with us, this concern no longer becomes valid. We take good care of your site manually testing each update and fixing any issues along the way!

Update Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

Core, Theme, Plugin Weekly Updates

Core update - this represents the main WordPress update in order for your site to run normally under the WordPress framework. It's the nucleus of all updates. These are launched by WordPress to patch up any security holes, introduce new features or design layouts, and/or improve performance. Keeping the core always up-to-date is essential for preserving a stable web foundation.

Theme update - WordPress by itself without a theme is a blank canvas. A theme is the final presentation of your canvas after you add a picture or drawing. It adds life and visualization to the overall appearance of your site.

You can have a business, health, ecommerce, or any other theme which will define the overall look and feel of your website. One may think of a theme also as a niche market. What business you're in may define the type of theme you want to install.

Just like any piece of software, when a developer launches an update for your theme, it's always best to adopt it. That way, everything runs in harmony with your core and plugin files.

Plugin update - think of plugins as additional tools, apps, or software that adds more life to your website. Plugins are available to download usually for free on the WordPress repository located within your dashboard. These digital "engineers" extend the "life" and usability of your site.

Installing WordPress by default is a "naked" slate. It doesn't come with anything to make your site fast, secure, convenient, and resourceful. For example, if you need to accept payment using Paypal or Stripe, you might need to download the Woocommerce plugin. If you want your customers to fill out a registration form, you might need a contact form plugin. If you want to send emails to subscribers, you might need a email marketing plugin. You get the idea.

Just like with your core and theme, plugins are a huge, huge, let me repeat, HUGE must to be updated. They are the most vulnerable because not only do you have many different developers writing different code that may or may not conform to current security standards, but you may become complacent.

Often times, with many plugins, the website owner fails to keep all of them up-to-date because he/she frankly falls behind schedule. They get busy with clients; busy with content creation; busy with marketing; busy with a plethora of other tasks.

That's why you have us by your side making sure everything is always updated. We want you to focus more on important activities that actually make you money than WordPress or Woocommerce updates.

Safe Updates

We update one plugin at a time to make sure it doesn't cause a domino effect. After the update is complete, we then check the health of your site. If anything looks off we investigate to see if other plugins were the cause of the disturbance.

We may even reach out to the developer of each plugin or the plugins we think are the culprit to see if we can isolate the issue.

Although this process is cumbersome, it guarantees the best safety with the least amount of future headaches. The reason we don't recommend enabling auto-updates in WordPress is because it's set-and-forget.

What happens when you visit your website a couple days after the auto-updates and notice abnormalities? How will you be able to trace back and find the root cause?

When you set auto-updates you lose complete control over the "checks and balances" system. That's why, we take the necessary time at the forefront to carefully update each plugin one-by-one and eyeball those changes with the site's current appearance.

Solutions For Abandoned Or Obsolete Plugins/Themes

We understand each WordPress setup is unique. Some may require 5 plugins whereas others call for 50. The truth of the matter is technology is always changing at a rapid pace.

If the developer(s) of a plugin doesn't have a large user base; or there isn't any monetary incentive to keep the plugin up-to-date; or they're having a tough time keeping up with technological advancements, you might be in for a huge surprise!

Typically, with this scenario, more likely than not the developer(s) will stop supporting plugin updates. This means your site can become more vulnerable to security attacks, buggy, and incompatible causing conflicts with another plugin or theme. It's the same concept as your phone.

The less you keep it up-to-date the more problems you'll experience. It may crash, run sluggishly, or open up a door to a security threat.

When a plugin is no longer supported, we call it abandoned or obsolete. The best we can do is put these plugins or themes on a pending no-update list until we find a viable replacement. Usually, if a plugin is semi popular there are variants.

This means we can easily replace it with another plugin with similar functionality only one that's currently being maintained and updated by the developer.

If, however, we can't find a replacement, we'll assess with you the importance of any abandoned plugin to see if it's necessary to keep or delete. We understand in some situations, you may decide to keep the unsupported vulnerable plugin either because it cannot be replaced or it's part of an integral function.

Optimal Update Time

When it comes down to updating your core, plugins, and theme, we understand at times this may cause some downtime or interruptions. We never run full updates during peak hours just in case if something goes wrong during the process.

Instead, all updates to your website take place normally under non-busy hours where there is minimal traffic.

Fixing Faulty Plugins Or Themes After An Update

Our definition of fully managing your website means we take care of all IT related issues from start to finish. If any update or configuration causes a breakage, errors, or other disorientations, we diligently follow up with the developer of that problematic plugin or theme to find a solution.

Gutenberg Upgrade Support

If you're looking to upgrade to the Gutenberg WordPress editor, we can ease this transition for you. No need to worry about any incompatibility issues. We'll resolve them for you if any and make sure the upgrade is as smooth as butter.

Weekly Report

All core, theme, and plugin updates are documented within the report we send to you on weekly basis.

24/7 Available Support

It's important to note we have your back 24/7 around the clock. If anything goes wrong with an update or you need to restore your site using a prior backup, we're here for you. Just reach out and our team will take care of your request.

Updates Are First Tested On A Staging Site

If you like, we can first test core, theme, and plugin updates on a staging site not your main production site. A staging site is a testing site which mirrors your main site. The testing website is on a private URL non-accessible to the public. Once we audit and double check your testing site to make sure no issues exist, we can then push those updates to your main site.

The advantage of doing it this way is if any updates break your site it would only impact the testing one. Your main website will remain intact, error-free since those updates were first done on the staging site.

Please note: the staging site option is only available on the Optimize Plan

Full Site Backups Before Installing Live Updates

Sometimes, updates can go south. This may be due to code incompatibility present in other plugins, unsanitized code existing in a plugin you just updated, or a conflict with your theme or core files.

This is a legitimate fact of the WordPress environment. Not all coding is created equal. Since it's open source, that means you have a lot of different chefs mixing their own styles of ingredients to your favorite pot dish. This can be an ultimate fiasco more like a boiling dish ready to explode.

Since every developer can write different code meaning it's variable not uniform, problems can arise from one plugin not interacting nicely with another plugin.

So, rather than taking the chance to fully update your core, themes, and plugins expecting the end result will be glamorous, we take a step back. As a precautionary measure, before we run updates, we make sure first and foremost there's at least one full backup of your website of the day before. From there, after updating your main site, if something messes up or looks funky, we can quickly restore your site to the pre-updated backup version.

That way, your website will still be working error-free giving us time in the background to figure out what went wrong and how to deploy a permanent fix.

FAQS
FAQs Update Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I update WordPress or Woocommerce?

All updates are available on your dashboard via a red notification on the top left.

By clicking on that notification, WordPress will show you three main sections: core, plugins, and themes. You can then click on the update button to proceed.

However, we highly caution you to first take a backup, test all updates on a staging/testing site (not on your main production), and manually check all your pages/posts to ensure nothing went wrong. Sometimes updates can break part or all your website.

That's why to save you the stress and hassle of having to perform all these exhaustive tasks, you can outsource this type of work to us for a very small monthly fee. The last thing you want if an update goes sideways is your visitor to see an out of place image or large extra spaces in between sections or your margins completely cutoff on mobile devices.

How do you handle faulty plugins/themes as well as hosting problems that disrupt the overall "mood" of my website?

Our definition of fully managing your website means we take care of all IT related issues from start to finish. If any update or configuration causes a breakage, errors, or other disorientations, we diligently follow up with the developer of that problematic plugin to find a solution.

If your website goes down because of a problem in your hosting company's server, we reach out to them for a fix. No need for you to waste time in this endeavor. We take the hit, even if it means waiting one hour for a response.

We also take care of all the back and forth communication between us and your host because to you this isn't value-added time.

Just like when a baby cries in the middle of the night, we as "web babysitters" are the first responders to shut that baby up!

Why is it important to keep my website up-to-date?

There are several important reasons why you MUST ALWAYS keep your website up-to-date.

  1. Security - to prevent hacks and malware, an updated site ensures any past vulnerabilities are patched up in the new update.
  2. Performance - some updates come in the form of making your site faster than it was before. By being a proactive updater, your web engine runs better, smoother, and lighter.
  3. Fix bugs - some developers write messy or below-the-par code, which inherently comes with bugs. This can cause a functional or physical distortion. Maybe the bugs makes your pictures disappear or you cannot accept payment from customers. Whatever the case, having the most updated version of all your core, themes, and plugins reduces the likelihood of a buggy website.
  4. New features - another benefit of updates is you get access to new features. These features can be a new design user interface, easier options to choose from, or advancements in web architecture. Whatever the new features entail, it's no brainer why you should take advantage of it to stay ahead of the competition.
Why don't you run updates daily?

It's more tactical if we run updates weekly. Sometimes updates are released with bugs. With a less update frequency, the developer will have enough time to fix the problem and launch a new version before our next update cycle.

Secondly, in order to run updates during non-peak hours with low traffic, it's only feasible to update your site weekly on the weekends.

Lastly, having a weekly update frequency allows us to combine multiple updates on one go. That makes it easier for us to review the website in one shot after all updates are complete as well as pinpoint any discrepancies between the old and new version. From there, we can better manage troubleshooting if the new updates were "toxic".

Is support really available 24/7?

Yes! It sure is!!!!

The majority of our team is located in the United States. We also have a small team scattered across different international countries in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Our globally balanced team is a huge plus of why you should hire us as your primary WordPress or Woocommerce technician. We'll get the job done right even when you're sleeping.

It doesn't matter if your website goes down at 12 p.m. or 12 a.m. Someone on our team will be notified in one minute and your site will be up and running in no time.

Do you first test updates on a staging site?

Yes we can, but this will require you to be on the Optimize plan.

A staging site is a testing site which mirrors your main site. The testing website is on a private URL non-accessible to the public. Once we audit and double check your testing site to make sure no issues exist, we can then push those updates to your main site.

The advantage of having this setup is if any updates break your site it would only impact the testing one. Your main website will remain intact, error-free since those updates were first done on the staging site.

Are you tired of having to manually update your website with new content, images, videos, colors, font sizes, etc.? Do you need help adding a logo, banner image, background video, a decorative header and footer?

Are you sick and tired of your web designer nickeling-and-diming you for every minor change you want to make... $50 here... $200 there...?

Well, if that's you, your dreams came true. For the first time ever, we'll handle ALL your web content updates without any caps, limits, overages, or variable fees!

Unlimited Web Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

Unlimited Web Edits Definition

There is no cap or limit on the number of changes that can be made on your website in any day, week, month, or year. Web edits entail small changes done on your site.

This can be changing your logo, colors, text, banners, images, videos, headers, footers, font sizes and types, plugin settings, cloning your pages or posts from existing ones, CSS adjustments, and the like. We can swap out any existing images, text, or videos and replace them with the ones you provide. We can also resize images so they fit nicely on the page to optimize your page load speed.

This service is the same as us being your content management team.

Unlimited Web Edits Don't Include

Unlimited web edits don't include custom websites (e.g. creating a brand new page or post, creating a brand new website, renovating an existing site from scratch without supplied content, etc.), copywriting, developing custom plugins or themes, updating custom code, content creation, or designing new graphics, videos, or text.

Fast Completion Time

Under our basic support, web edits and plugin configurations are usually completed within 24-48 hours. It may take longer sometimes depending on the volume of our demand. Most of the time, we can deliver your edits between this average queue window.

If you upgrade to our priority support in our Optimize Plan and up, edits are finalized within 24 hours or less.

Fast Inquiry And Status Update Time

On average, the response time for customer inquiries and status updates falls between 1-6 hours. Under our priority support, which is available on the Optimize Plan and up, our response times are faster typically between 1-3 hours.

Unlimited Plugin Installation And Configuration

We'll install and configure ANY plugins without ANY limits. For example, if you need help integrating an email marketing plugin like mailchimp in WordPress to send emails to your subscribers, we can fully assist. This type of work alone can save countless hours of frustration and agony.

Even if you're tech savvy, you still need to reserve precious time from your business to learn how to properly set up each new plugin you install. This can entail watching YouTube videos, reaching out on WordPress forums, reading documentation, reading blogs, etc.

And even if you perform all these labor intensive steps, there's no guarantee you won't run into any problems or hit another road block of confusion.

Save the hassle and tediosity and focus more on revenue generating opportunities while we take care of the dry work.

Fix 404, Broken Links, And Typos

A broken link is a link that's no longer active. It shows a 404 error if a user tries to visit this dead link. This usually happens when a page or post is deleted. It can also happen if the site is moved to another domain and links attached to the old domain doesn't get updated to reflect the new one.

Why is updating broken links so important? Well, if you care about SEO and user experience, you'll spend the time it takes to fix them. These lifeless links hurt SEO rankings and confuse visitors, which in turn lead to lower engagements.

Even better, you no longer have to manually sift through all your pages and posts to find all your broken links. We do exactly just that on a thorough basis so nothing falls in between the cracks.

We can also grammatically correct any typos to preserve professionalism. No one wants to be embarrassed from their visitors about the misspellings. That could adversely affect conversions and buyers' trust!

FAQS
FAQs Unlimited Web Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I do if I have too many plugins installed?

Sometimes too much of any good thing is harmful. The more plugins you have installed and activated the more code is required to run through the database. The more code present on your web page the more time it will take to fully render the page visible to the end user.

It's always best to keep plugins to a minimum unless if you absolutely need them. If you have too many plugins installed, we can offer recommendations to reduce the volume and thus improve performance.

If I need help installing or configuring ANY plugin, can you assist?

Yes; we certainly can!

We can install and configure any number of plugins for you. If you need help integrating an email marketing tool like mailchimp or mailpoet, you can use us for that. Or how about a page builder like elementor or a contact form like ninjaforms? We can definitely be of assistance!

Unlimited plugin installations and configurations is literally a dream come true!

This task falls under the Secure Plan and up.

Do you offer one-off website edits without being on monthly plan?

We would first have to put you on the Secure plan to render this type of service. One we complete this task, you're welcome to cancel the plan.

However, we advise against this practice for several reasons. First, you'll lose out on continual hands on support. You won't have a fully fledge team managing you site 24/7. Second, with the rapid rate of technological changes and the fact updates are launched almost every week, without ongoing support, your site will remain out-of-date. Outdated sites pose security vulnerabilities increasing your chances of malware and data loss. Third, as new content gets updated, it must be optimized including the database to run efficiently.

Without our constant presence near your side, your website will perform sluggishly, may be comprised, and suffer from erratic and buggy functionality.

Give me some examples of the kinds of edits included and not included in this plan?

Example #1

Included:

You want us to update a picture on your page and you supply us with the image and instructions to go about with this change.

Not Included:

You want us to either create a brand new image from scratch using graphic design software or find one from the Internet.

Example #2

Included:

Add a new product with the applicable description and title provided you supply us with all the related content including images, text, video, etc.

Not Included:

Creating a shop page from scratch without any provided content or customizing the cart page and the like.

Example #3:

Included:

Installing and configuring a plugin like a contact form tool that will be used to collect user information

Not Included:

Developing a custom plugin or adding more life to an existing plugin with custom tweaks.

Example #4:

Included:

Editing your home page with the information you sent us

Not Included:

Creating your home page from scratch without any content provided.

Does this plan cover building websites or landing pages?

This plan doesn't cover building a website, new page or post, or landing pages. It only covers basic small changes like updating your content with the information you give us.

We can create a page/post so long as it's being duplicated from an existing one and swap out the images, text, or video with the desired content.

Does this plan cover include digital graphic changes like creating logos, banners, images, social media links, ads, etc.?

Again, we can't create a new digital graphics or design a new website or page. We aren't a design or graphics agency. However, we can update your content such as resizing or reformatting margins or images as well as optimizing anything you send us.

All web edits are done based on your instructions and what you supply to us.

But what if you had a 24/7 WordPress team like us providing emergency support services just like 911? There'll be less turbulence, more peace of mind, and more time to focus on the good stuff!

Emergency Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

White Screen Of Death Support

A white screen of death is simply a web page that's completely white. This can happen from PHP code errors, improper hosting configuration, or defective plugins/themes. When this happens, no content is displayed on your page and you get caught in cobb web trying to figure out what happened.

With our 24/7 services, you'll never be left in the dark spending extraneous hours fixing a problem you don't know how to cure. We'll dig...We'll investigate...We'll figure it all out for you to get your site back to normality!

Preventative Crisis Control

Fixing problems doesn't mean we forget about them. We do our best to ensure they don't happen again. If they do reoccur, we take notes from our prior solution and reference them to get an idea on where to start. This strategy cuts down on "wheel spinning" further streamlining the process of finding a solution in a reasonable time.

For example, if we conclude upon further tests, your white screen of death was caused by a faulty plugin, we reach out to the developer for a fix. If the developer fixes the problem, we take notes to understand the cause just in case if it resurrects from the past.

Active note taking is integral for knowledge depth and work flow efficiency, especially around different crises!

Automated Uptime Monitoring Every One Minute

Yes! You heard it loud and clear. Our automated systems will check the health of your website every one minute to see if it's actively running.

Unfortunately, due to the inherent, dynamic, and inevitable nature of code, a website can be down from a plethora of factors. Too many visitors constraining your server's bandwidth is one cause. Other causes are poorly configured servers, installing incompatible or outdated software/code, slow hosting, etc.

If your website "turns off" on you, we'll know ahead of time and take care of the underlying issue(s) before it reaches your eyes.

Weekly Report And Email Updates

All emergency support findings are documented in our weekly report sent to your email. We also email you updates on our current crisis progress so you know what's happening behind the scenes.

FAQs Emergency Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

How does your uptime monitoring work exactly?

Through the use of various tools, we automatically ping your website every minute to ensure there's a "pulse". If any errors come back, we know the site can be down or experiencing high latency.

We then dive in to troubleshoot and repair any sort of downtime or malfunctions!

What can I expect from your emergency management support?

Every issue no matter how small or big is taken very seriously. We proactively follow up with fast communication always keeping you in the loop of our progress and updates.

We explain in detail the issue at hand, how we plan on resolving it, and what the outcome was. We closely watch your web activity to make sure everything looks nice and tidy! If an emergency event happens, we step in to find a fast resolution minimizing downtime, performance constraints, and loss of traffic.

Moreover, we handle your site with care with our daily full cloud backups. That way, if you need the site to be restored ASAP because you can't afford to lose traffic or sales at a given time period, we got your a*s covered!

We can restore your site to an earlier time period before the event of the crisis and then work on finding a permanent solution during the interim.

Why do I need emergency services if I do a good job updating my site?

Although constantly updating your website is important to avoid catastrophes down the road, they're never guaranteed to be error-free. You may get in the habit of just clicking the update button to remove the red notification in your WordPress dashboard without dotting all your i's and crossing your t's.

If one of your plugin updates is nasty with another plugin, a breakage is bound to happen. And if you don't have time to thoroughly check your entire site after an update is complete, how will you know 100 percent it's bug free?

That's why when you have a 24/7 emergency support team, nothing will fall in the cracks and stay remain there until it's too late.

Emergencies are never planned and you should never assume that by clicking on the update button all your problems will be solved. It may be just the complete opposite adding gasoline to the fire. There is a systematic step-by-step procedure that must be followed to lessen the chances of failure.

We have more 10 years of combined experience in WordPress and Woocommerce. This is what we do day in and day out. It's our forte! The chances of something breaking is low when you allow us to fully manage and update your site 24/7.

We'll not only be there when your website falls apart, but we'll guarantee you get all the latest and greatest security, speed, and feature-rich patches.

Do you reach out to my hosting company if there's a problem or a white screen of death?

It depends on the nature of the problem. If the issue is plugin related, then no. We reach out to the developer to find a fix.

If we deem your white screen of death or the downtime is caused by your host, then we follow up with them to see what's going on. No need for you to waste time in this endeavor. We take the hit, even if it means waiting one hour for a response.

We also take care of all the back and forth communication between us and your host because to you this isn't value-added time. We'll be in constant communication with them to arrive at a remedy while you can focus on more important activities like bringing in more clients to your business.

SUMMARY

Backups are a wonderful tool you can have. The problem is nobody ever takes them seriously. Imagine you spend 1 month building your site and suddenly it crashes. Call it data corruption; cyberattack; data loss.

All that hard work poured into your website is gone within a blink of an eye costing you a significant amount of time and money!

You no longer need to worry about a permanent backup solution. We can go back in time and restore a previous backup in full working condition to unwind any irregularities.

Backup Management Services Details
SERVICES

Here are all the services you get with this plan:

Automated Smart Traffic Detention Backups

We don't just take backups randomly. We schedule them during low traffic time to cause the least amount of resistance or interruption. Depending on the plan you're on, backups commences one, two, or four times per day.

Backups Done On Amazon S3 Secure And Reliable Servers

Amazon's name reliability goes without saying. They're the most trusted and secure provider for hosting, email, backups, and many more services.

We use them for two reasons: 1) Reduce server resource consumption; 2) Risk Management. Because we're not crowding your hosting server with backup points (and that could be quite large depending on the size of your database), server resources can be managed more efficiently.

Plus, most hosts depending on your plan don't store backups for more than 30 days because they can quickly eat up storage space.

Using Amazon as a third party backup provider allows for a longer retention period (90 days) since we're balancing out server processes (i.e. Amazon is solely responsible for backups and your host is solely responsible for delivering web content to your visitors).

Another plus is managing risk. Because all your eggs is not in one basket, if your hosting server winds up crashing and you can't get access to your backups, at least you know there's a secondary outlet - Amazon S3.

Simple And Fast One Click Restore Points

With just one, and ONE click only, your website can be restored from an earlier backup. No extra work is needed. You don't need to upload a zip backup file to extract its contents or run terminal commands to restore backups.

The magic happens with a push of a button!

Customize What Gets Backed Up

You have the full freedom to choose what gets backed up. If you only want certain files backed up, this might be the best option for you.

Most people typically choose the default full site backup. It's an easier option because people don't know or care about which files are more important than others to backup.

However, at least this customized option is available in case you're that techie type who prefers "filtered" backups.

Multiple Backups Per Day

Depending on the plan you choose, we can backup your entire site one, two, or four times daily. A great addition to have if your site changes constantly such in the case of Woocommerce.

Choose Between US Or EU Storage

Because of GDPR's regulation, we now cater to both audiences. You can either choose between US or EU storage backup data centers in compliance with GDPR.

FAQS
FAQs Backup Management Services

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long are backups stored for?

All our plans include backups archived for 90 days.

How can I access these backups or restore my site?

Just send us an email at [email protected] and let us know the date of the backup you want restored. We'll then restore that backup for you.

Why do I need backup services?

Without any backups you are in for BIG trouble. Think of it like this. If you don't have a spare tire in your car, what happens if you get a flat tire?

Same concept for uncertainties surrounding the web world.

What if someone breaks into your site, wreaks havoc, destroys your data, and installs malware? What if your plugin updates are buggy and break your site? What if your server crashes? What if you accidentally delete content you didn't think was important or necessary and later changed your mind?

What if you accidentally make a mistake and install a custom piece of code either for CSS, HTML or Javascript and it destroys the overall appearance and functionality of your website?

Without a fail switch option or that "spare tire", how will you get to your end destination point? You would need to spend a prodigious amount of time and money fixing these types of problems which could have easily be circumvented in less than 5 minutes with a backup solution.

How does your automated backups work exactly?

We have preset time and day values to run a backup daily during optimal hours. We don't run backups during high traffic time because it can disturb the overall performance.

Everything gets backed up on our Amazon S3 secure servers. Even if your host takes daily backups, it doesn't hurt to have two backup zones because what if your host's server crashes?

Diversifying your risk through redundancy on two different platforms can only benefit not hurt your business. If one platform goes under water, you still have another wing to fly your "plane".

It's always best to have different backup options rather than solely trusting your entire website in the hands of one person.
